Interconnecting and Packaging

The new manufacturing as well as testing and inspection equipment bought in 1997 accelerated researches in the field of interconnecting and packaging electronic circuits. Firstly, diploma works appeared and than step by step this subject matter has been the main activity of the laboratory. The scope includes developing and improving of new dice attachment methods, quality examination of multi layer printed circuits boards as well as assessment of solder and adhesive joints quality, especially in surface mount technology. It has been attached importance to investigation of new materials like lead-free solders and electrically and thermally conductive adhesives. Material searching has been oriented to green electronics. The group is a member of Materials Recycling Center of Excellence. More information

Numerical Prototyping and Computer Simulations

In contemporary micro- and nanoelectronics the progress would not be possible without applications of numerical prototyping. On the other hand accurate numerical prototyping requires complimentary experimental approach in the area of material characterization and final validation of the results. Therefore, LIPEC group is strongly involved in the both areas of research, which is numerical and experimental and their applications in the so-called manufacturing engineering. More information

Electron Beam Technologies (Discontinued)

The research activity in the field of electron beam technologies has been based on high experience of the team. They are designers of series of 60kV/10kW electron welding machines for industrial application, first in Poland with so high accelerating voltage and beam power. The electron gun of these machines is the source of electron beam with parameters comparable with world-made welders of the same class. The constructions were preceded by high power electron-beam diagnostic, particularly by quantitative study of experimental emittance diagrams. Tests were made in the prototype of the welding machine series, which after modernization is still working in the laboratory. Aside from measuring of the beam parameters, new technologies of welding, surface modification and brazing of super hard materials by electron beam were worked out. Publications on electron beam technologies dominated in that time.
